Abstract (English)

Monk states that his reason for bringing these young British artists together was their shared interest in autobiography, narrative and performance. His analysis of Emin's work focuses on the formal methods used to transform memories into visual stories. Monk then describes Starr's "Visit to a Small Planet", a sculptural installation based on her attempt to re-create a childhood memory of a story from a film. His description of the Wilson sisters' collaborative photo- and video-installations focuses on issues of subjectivity and authorship in relation to their being identical twins.
