Five Families : An Exhibition of Family Portraits by Allan Harding MacKay
Ferguson, Bruce W. and Holton, Mark. Five Families : An Exhibition of Family Portraits by Allan Harding MacKay. Charlottetown, PEI: Confederation Centre Art Gallery and Museum, 1986.
Ferguson's text briefly accounts for the qualities of MacKay's portraits (oil and pastel renderings of juxtaposed slide-projections on unprimed tar-paper) through what is basically a biographical sketch. Isolated beginnings in P.E.I., experiences in Halifax and Lethbridge and the artist's self-imposed exile in Switzerland and return to Canada are central to the discussion. Biographical notes. 6 bibl. ref.
