Abstract (English)Liss notes the importance of language in Deschênes’ paintings and establishes, through formal descriptions of the works, a list of key elements from the artist’s “universal” vocabulary. Chaput presents a three-part discussion, corresponding to the animal, vegetable and mineral realms, to demonstrate how the fabrication of the work and the aesthethic choices – labour, ritual repetition, ornamentation – are linked to the artist’s personality.
