Abstract (English)A set of three CDs dedicated to the following “3 phases” of Snow’s piano work: “piano antique” (jazz and blues); “piano biologique” (improvisation); and “piano mécanique” (a conceptual approach to piano, incorporating digital technology). Includes a booklet with an essay by Gervais that outlines the foundations of Snow’s musical practice (which is grounded in the history of jazz and phonographic recording). Gervais’ analysis of selected compositions by the artist focuses on the following topics: the issue of time, the theme of the “train,” the alternation between past and present, the interaction of the biological and mechanical, the deconstructive use of computers, and the fusion of the popular and the avant-garde. Robert relate l’origine du projet et ses transformations, ayant mené à une série de trois disques ou «3 phases» du travail pianistique de Snow, soit «Piano antique» (jazz et blues), «Piano biologique» (improvisation) et «Piano mécanique» (approche conceptuelle de l’instrument, avec programmation informatique). L’essai de Gervais rend compte des fondements de la démarche musicale de Snow, qui s’inscrit dans l’histoire du jazz et de la phonographie. Sont également abordés, à travers l’analyse des pièces individuelles: le rapport au temps, l’alternance passé/présent, le thème du «train», l’interaction entre le biologique et le mécanique, la déconstruction amenée par l’ordinateur et la fusion des univers populaire et avant-gardiste.
