Abstract (English)

For the fourth version of this conference series, 12 authors, theoreticians and artists present a pluridisciplinary reflection on the theme of memory, and its corollary, the archive (which transforms the former into socially useful material, and shapes its implications). Introduced by Bernier, their philosophical texts (transcribed here in their entirety) present a critical study of modernist culture and values, focusing on the relationship between ethics and aesthetics, with reference to the work of A. Kiefer, G. Richter and J. Gerz. Also considered are the concepts of disappearance, absence and mutation, ruin, mimesis and representation. Texts in their original French or English. Biographical notes on the authors. Circa 170 bibl. ref.

Résumé

Dans la continuité des trois volets précédents, 12 auteurs (théoriciens ou artistes) proposent une réflexion pluridisciplinaire sur le thème de la mémoire et de son corollaire, l’archive – qui le définit, le problématise et en fait une donnée socialement utilisable. Les communications de type philosophique présentées par Bernier sont reproduites intégralement. Elles entreprennent une étude critique de la culture moderniste, avec ses enjeux et ses valeurs, notamment dans les rapports entre esthétique et éthique, ou dans les liens entretenus avec les œuvres d’A. Kiefer, G. Richter et J. Gerz. Les auteurs s'intéressent notamment aux concepts de disparition, d’absence et de mutation, de ruine, de mimesis et de représentation.
