Abstract (English)

Potvin’s descriptive analysis of selected works in Tamasauskas’ exhibition highlights spatial characteristics of the prints, while calling attention to how the artist transgresses conceptual and technical boundaries of lithography through the use of found objects, Xerox transfer, photolithography and digital imagery. Other topics discussed include: the formal strategies employed by the artist (appropriation, assemblage, juxtaposition and fragmentation), the viewer’s relationship with the work, the dialectical relationship between culture/nature and the artist’s interest in alchemy. Includes list of works. Brief artist’s statement. Biographical notes. 54 bibl. ref.
