Abstract (English)

Salzman’s experiential description of Counsell’s outdoor sculptural intervention – a functional drinking fountain installed in a former factory complex in Toronto – places emphasis on the prosaic, pragmatic and romantic characteristics of the piece. The author’s reflections on how the object interacts with its surroundings foreground issues of site-specificity, place and embodiment. Includes a foldout poster with 60 photographs of the “Drinking Fountain.” 1 bibl. ref.
