Abstract (English)

The texts in this catalogue explore the fictional identities of the female personages in Hussar’s paintings. Madill considers Hussar’s dual heritage in relation to the work, Holubizky describes the work as a kind of history painting for ordinary people, and Keefer presents poems (in the imagined voices of the figures from the paintings). Hussar comments on her practice in an interview with Enright. List of works. Biographical notes.
