Abstract (English)

Commenting in particular on the artist’s use of shadow and light, Maier discusses the continuity of themes in Poole’s work. With reference to Japanese art and its traditional absence of shadow, Maier argues that Poole makes the viewer look at shadows in painting anew. List of works. Biographical notes.
