Abstract (English)

This issue is a collaboration with the McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology and comprises 11 essays (including 5 responding to the Culture Technologies Convergence Conference) and 6 printed matter projects. A wide range of subjects are addressed: relations between virtual reality and the body; Toshio Iwai's experiments with pre-cinematic technology; feminist science fiction; relations between design, digital technology and the social construction of meaning; sacrifice and rational political-economic structures; and changes to listening brought on by the use of digital technology in musical production.
