Abstract (English)"In the space at the bottom of the stairs, a squadron of origami planes adorned with colorful patterns is suspended from the ceiling from a strap. Several planes are decked out in jewelry and military equipment, their vibrant beauty set in direct contrast to the heavy, masculine machinery intrinsically linked to the recent deployment of all too real acts of surveillance and attack. Inspired by the traditional Japanese folding of the 1001 origami crane for a sick person, this commemorative and pacifist process has been appropriately employed in another cultural and historical context. This work is both seductive and disturbing, highlighting by contrast the ennobling of aggression with the delicate symphony of shapes, colors and movement. Another layer of meaning is added by the use of strong theatrical lighting and the presence of a video camera, which refer to the war images manipulated by television." -- Publisher's website.
