Abstract (English)

"Rising to the Occasion : the long 18th century presents five concurrent exhibitions of historical, modern and contemporary art.
It provides the opportunity for reflection : not merely of 21st century artists reflecting on the 18th century, but also the East reflecting on the West ; the other reflecting on the centre ; and the 18th century as fodder for epistemological shifts that have weighed on art, culture and politics for centuries.
