Abstract (English)

"There are two stories to this exhibition and to the Fick-Eggert Collection. One is art historical and concerns what the collection reveals about artistic activity in Cologne in the immediate post-war period, when Dada arose out of the mood of disillusionment precipitated by World War I and was further fed by conditions of political repressions during the British occupation of the city. The other is the more personal but equally dramatic story of how the collection originated and how it found its way to Canada." -- p. 3.
