Abstract (English)

Watson clarifies Schwarzkogler's link with Hermann Nitsch and other Viennese artists and discusses the artist's "actions" in relation to both avant-gardism, family events, and self-mutilation. Giving special attention to the theme of healing in Schwarzkogler's work, Stiles gives an account of the artist's life and of the contrast between his photographed "tableaux" and performances. 29 bibl. ref.
