Abstract (English)

Smart sees Graff's mechanical sculptural installation based on the migration of waterfowl as an ironic ecological plea opposing the domination and commodification of nature. Metcalfe investigates the evolution of concepts of utopia and dystopia in art and society, as well as contemporary constructs of pilgrimage, home, sanctuary, and the "natural." Artist's statement. Biographical notes. 18 bibl. ref.
