Abstract (English)

Johnstone's analysis of four works by Tomas, all of which are interpretations of Magritte's 1938 painting "Time Transfixed," presents the artist's concerns and interest in systems of representation. Tomas reveals his process, reflects on the impact of photography on understanding the nature of memory and identity, and offers a discussion of the works. Brief biographical notes. 3 bibl. ref.
