Abstract (English)

In this book to accompany an exhibition at Presentation House Gallery, White examines the representational conventions of postwar scenic postcards from British Columbia. His analysis focuses on the ideological motives underlying photographic representations of landscape, leisure activities, urban centres and industry. He also considers the concept of nature in relation to romanticism, modern aesthetics and economics. Biographical notes. 48 bibl. ref.
