Hurtig's analysis of Amantea's work focuses on the problems of agency and desire within the social conditions and political economies of sexual difference. References are made to Roland Barthes' thoughts on photography, Max Scheler's definition of ressentiment, and Grace Holyer's personal story about staying in an alcoholism centre.
