Abstract (English)

Bailey provides an historical and cultural context for an exhibition of moccasins hand-crafted by over thirty members of the Shuswap Bands of the Interior Salish First Nations. Jules discusses the symbolic importance of moccasin design, calling attention to how the styles and decorations changed with the arrival of European settlers. 33 bibl. ref.
