Abstract (English)

With scientific, historical, artistic and social considerations - including numerous quotations - Dion's two essays focus on birds as perceived by humans, symbolically and in everyday life. The artist also provides insight into his own work (the bird illustrations are from a series of Cibachromes produced by Dion in 1998) as well as that of French photographer Jean-Luc Mylayne, to whom the second essay is dedicated. 13 bibl. ref.
