Abstract (English)

This book, published on the occasion of MacKay's installation "Source/Derivations III" (1994), contains texts by two authors. T. Heath's interpretation of the artist's recent work focuses on themes of sorrow, testimony, anger and interrogation. Stacey provides an indepth analysis of MacKay's work, tracing its development from the 1970s - bookworks, portraits and landscapes - through to recent installations based on "original" works by Tom Thomson, Lawren Harris and Ron Benner. Themes of journey, change and process are discussed in relation to issues of self, memory and place. Biographical notes. Circa 190 bibl. ref.
