Abstract (English)

This publication was made to accompany an exhibition celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Crafts Association of British Columbia. Shadbolt considers issues of materiality and process in relation to the role of craft within art. Allison suggests that the embodiment of craft within matter is an affirmation of human values. Gustafson provides an in-depth historical analysis of craft in British Columbia since the creation of the Art-in-Living Group (1943). Includes reproductions of works by 47 artists, with brief statements and descriptive captions. Circa 30 bibl. ref.
