Abstract (English)

Catalogue for an exhibition of photographs from three of Haraldsson’s urban/architectural photo-documentary projects based on travels to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem (Israel), the Capital Complex at Chandigarh (India) and the city of Reykjavík (Iceland). Brydon’s analysis of the artist’s aesthetic strategy – referred to as “critical nostalgia” – focuses on issues of utopia and nationalism, primarily as they pertain to the ideological underpinnings of modern architecture and urban planning. The author also provides background information on the buildings and places photographed. List of works. Biographical notes. 48 bibl. ref.
