Abstract (English)

An artist’s book about the North American obsession with UFO encounters, wherein the alien becomes a secular substitute for more traditional religious conceptions of the unknown. In a montage of images of aliens and faked UFO sightings, Eakin presents the alien, a symbol of fear and desire, as the "Happy Face" of the Nineties with an edge. Hunter contributes a narrative that combines the elements of autobiography, an alien encounter near Roswell, and Billy the Kid.
