Abstract (English)

Guest editor Bonner introduces a special issue dedicated to the multidisciplinary Culture of Cities research project. Five major essays consider the problematic of place-making within the dynamic and contested terrain of cities, or more specifically, the sense of place and attachment in Guben/Gubin and Dublin, the collective memory of spaces in Montreal and Berlin, and the democratic discourse surrounding the amalgamation debates in Toronto and Montreal. Includes 15 book reviews (one in French only) on related subjects. Texts in English with very brief French abstracts. 177 bibl. ref.
