Abstract (English)

For an exhibition of new work by Singer that collages scraps of finery on canvas, Carpenter briefly surveys the artist’s career: her early success and surprising developments, such as her turn from abstraction to figuration, and to collage. About the new work, Carpenter notes it is a reflection on fragility and on the artist’s own, female, experience. 2 bibl. ref. Biobibliography 2 p.
