Abstract (English)

In a series of photos and texts, the artists, one in Canada and one in France, explore the similarities and differences of European and North American culture. Without identifying who did what, Armstrong and Collins have each taken 49 photographs and written 49 texts to correspond with a list of 49 words. The 49 pairs of photographs are followed by the texts written in English and French which complement the images with anecdotal and autobiographical content.

Résumé

Dans cette série de photographies et de textes, deux artistes, un au Canada et l’autre en France, explorent les affinités et les différences entre les cultures nord-américaine et européenne. Armstrong et Collins ont chacun pris 49 photos et écrit 49 textes inspirés par une liste de 49 mots. Les 49 paires de photographies, présentées sans référence à l’auteur, sont suivies des textes (en français et en anglais) dont les propos anecdotiques et autobiographiques complémentent les images.
