Abstract (English)

In this catalogue for a retrospective exhibition of Urban’s work, Pakasaar invokes the notion of the carnivalesque, claiming that the "misfit" performer's art "burlesques" the dominant culture. Coulter's description of Urban’s work mirrors the narrative structures within it, and Massier's text deals with the problem of documenting performance art. Includes list of works. Biographical notes. 5 bibl. ref.
