Abstract (English)

This catalogue for an exhibition examining the nature of suburbia and its effects on the contemporary psyche, features four texts that address the issue and its relation to selected artworks. The authors each refer to their own experiences of suburbia with varying degrees of appreciation or contempt, but as Sommers notes, there is no denying that the suburbs are “wellsprings of creativity in the post-modern world.” List of works. 34 bibl. ref.
