Abstract (English)

Marzolf contrasts Noestheden's bumperedobjects to Lobsang Samten's sand mandala, which was also presented at the Dunlop. Issues of transience and chaos are considered in relation to the artists' use of labour-intensive meditative processes. Other topics discussed include: audience participation; relations between humans and technology; how the "bumperedobjects" differ from minimalist sculpture; and the value of play. Includes list of works. Biographical notes. 12 bibl. ref.
