Abstract (English)

Dempsey and Millan rewrite the story of Lizzie Borden, the woman accused of killing her parents. The authors trace the protagonist's early years, foregrounding the tale's beginning because "it is when anything can still happen." Underlying themes include: lesbianism, hysteria, female roles and repression.
