Abstract (English)

"The work of Mark Hansen is difficult to categorize. While on one level it is pure painting with luscious surfaces and subtle shifts in colour, it is also sculpture with volume and space. His constructions bridge the gap between the two mediums and like the artist who created them, they are aggressive assertions of life, popular culture and art. These "structures" have connections to a wide range of styles and ideas but they ultimately make a unique statement, unlike anything that has come before them." David Somers, page 1.
