Abstract (English)

"This exhibition is titled Here & Now because this collection reflects the current state of contemporary Canadian Aboriginal art in public collections. Aboriginal aesthetic has been historically overlooked by Canadian Galleries; instead it was relegated to a few museums. The Dunlop Art Gallery started collecting Aboriginal Art in 1970 soon after the opening of the gallery in 1964. From the beginning, this gallery has placed the inclusion of aboriginal art within the larger context of Canadian art" -- page 1.
