Abstract (English)

"Performing the body/Performing the text addresses the issue of performance in relation to the visual arts. Since the 1960's, visual art practices have taken contemporary art outside the museum and gallery, embracing theatricality and performance, and challenging the boundaries set by traditional art criticism. Such practices have led to a reassessment of our ways of constructing meaning from art, and an awareness of the importance of performance, both in the process of art production, and in the act of interpretation itself.
