Abstract (English)

Through an examination of systems of validation and economic support in art, Rosen looks at art between 1970 and 1985 and women's relation to the mainstream. Essays address women's access to professional advancement, changes that allowed women to influence the direction of art, and feminist interventions in both definitions of art and in critical practices.
