Abstract (English)

Jacob outlines the development of recent photographic practices in the Soviet Union in relation to social and art histories. Jacob also critiques the West's construction of Soviet photography and history. Both authors write on six artists' works and their photographic and oppositional strategies in relation to official and unofficial Soviet art.
