Abstract (English)

"Some of the best known black artists, especially among those whose generation had its major impact before the 1970s, consciously depicted themes and scenes connected with the life of their own people [...] By contrast, the artists in this exhibition who belong to a generation younger [...], generally do not weave ancestral recollections and symbols into their images [...] They are in the mainstream of various contemporary art movements, each developing his own intellectual imagery and style." -- page [4].
