Abstract (English)

"Chuck Close's brilliance as an artist lies in large measure in an ability to take the familiar and to magically reintroduce it to us as the unfamiliar. And while it can be said that that he does indeed carry on the rich American narrative tradition, the portraits seem to exist too as defined spaces in which beautiful abstract markings exist n construction of that subject." -- page 3.
