Abstract (English)

According to Ammann, Fischl activates the viewer's memory by revealing the intimate details of American middle-class life. Kuspit claims that Fischl's "media style" of representation undermines the modern subject's authority by revealing its infantile basis. Ferguson traces Fischl's artistic practice from 1975 to 1984, emphasizing his use of the taboos of adolescent sexuality to demonstrate the subject's social and political condition.
