Abstract (English)

From a linguistic account of the concept underlying the installation, Esch demonstrates how Andrews' portrait series uses images mediated through memory, technolgy and manual process to create an iconography that is both a commemoration and an appeal on behalf of victims of AIDS-related illnesses. 3 bibl. ref.
