Abstract (English)

Lingwood analyzes Balkenhol's "outdoor" sculptures' paradoxical nature and status as statues/monuments, while Wall situates the artist's practice in relation to the modernist sculptural tradition and the collapse of statuary. Balkenhol, in notes and conversations with Rückriem and Schütte, reveals thoughts on the state of art and sculpture and the role of the artist.
