Abstract (English)

Jenkner investigates the conception of art as visual evidence in the discourse on truth and the gallery as a site of epistemological enquiry (examining such topics as the credibility of photographic evidence and the "objectivity" of police photographs) and proposes "critical fictions" that attempt to expose their own illusionism. Biographical notes on 14 artists. 8 bibl. ref.
