Abstract (English)

Historians, anthropologists, artists, writers, art critics, and AIDS activists contribute 32 diverse texts to an anthology examining the ways in which AIDS information and related issues have been conveyed. Essays historically contextualize the phenomenon, explore the artistic community's reaction to the crisis, analyze its representation in the media, and discuss safer sex and gay porn. Literature and theatre are presented as forums for expression and education. Biographical notes on contributors. 206 bibl. ref.
