Abstract (English)

Sangster's analysis of Rothenberg's installation focuses on the use of irony and satire as a means of approaching issues of racism, nationalism and censorship in America. He suggests that by evoking the everyday assaults of mass media advertising, commodity fetishism and corporate/government manipulation, the artist forces the viewer to participate in a self-critical exchange of meaning.
