Abstract (English)Originally presented at a Symposium held in 1988 in conjunction with an exhibition marking Optica's 15th anniversary, seven critical essays address "marginalized" aspects of photographic activity and explore issues including: the ethos of technology and the act of interpretation; fetishism and 19th century photography of the female nude; the discursive condition of the documentary; subject/object relationships; and photographic theory and criticism.
