Abstract (English)

In discussing the resemblance the work of eight Calgary artists bears to "New Image", the author also identifies what sets their paintings and installations apart from the postmodern style; the way in which the personal and conventional use of symbols creates rich, evocative and contemplative works, likened to those of 19th century symbolists.
