Abstract (English)

Underlining the difficulties of Art & Language's extremist interpretation of the causes and effects of modernist aesthetics, Wood examines the international context of emergence of the group and comments on the contradictory tendencies revealed by their recent production. Harrison calls attention to the vertigo and paradoxical character of the play between aspects of meaning in the group's last polyptyques and projects of reinterpreting the classical genres. David and Pacquement recall the polemical formulations of this postmodern utopia. Includes an historical summary and the booklet of a "conceptual" opera. Bibl. 5 p.

Bibl. 5 p.
