Abstract (English)

White's introduction to an exhibition composed of text-based works from the Oakville Gallery's permanent collection focuses on the experience of "reading" visual art. She employs an interpretive method based on a semiotic analysis of language and knowledge to explore issues concerning the effects of mass media and the artificiality of representation. 10 bibl. ref.
