Abstract (English)

A major catalogue presented on the occasion of a travelling exhibition of Douglas' recent work. Augaitis' interpretation of selected installations draws attention to how the artist uses narrative to critique modern forms of imperialism. Wagner's analysis of Douglas' "Monodramas" and "Win, Place or Show" focuses on relations between urban planning/architecture in Vancouver and the economic aspects of media. Wood discusses the "non-artistic" and "non-autonomous" characteristics of the artist's practice, situating them within the context of his photography, film and television-based pieces. Includes list of works and production credits. Artist's statements. Biographical notes. Circa 125 bibl. ref.
