Abstract (English)

In considering Mathieu's sculptural appropriation of Matisse's "Serpentine" and Rodin's "Age of Bronze", Russell focuses on strategies of inversion, reversal and seriality. Issues of containment, functionality and materiality are also considered with respect to the erotic/sexual aspects of selected works. Biographical notes. 42 bibl. ref.
